WHAT CAUSES BAD BREATH TO BEGIN WITH?
Most bad breath is caused by bacteria in your mouth (and on your tongue and gums). Kill the bacteria or remove the food they feed on and you’ll get yourself fresher breath in no time.
1. CHEW GUM
Gum is definitely your friend if you’ve got on a few minutes and need a quick fix. Sugar free is best since the bacteria in your mouth causing the bad breath wont have anything sweet to snack on. Just don’t swallow the gum after. You don’t want it staying in your stomach for 7 years!
Update: Sources say gum doesn’t stay in your stomach for 7 years, but we’re not really looking to be guinea pigs and find out if it’s true.
2. CHEW MINT, PARSLEY, BASIL
No gum lying around. No problem. Use the garnish on your lunch or if it’s that kind of day, the one in your drink to keep the bad breath at bay. Chewing greens for a few minutes, specifically aromatic greens, work wonders. We like to think of it as the natural Freshmaker. Sorry Mentos.
3. CHEW NUTS OR SEEDS
Like herbs, nuts and seeds have a powerful aroma. Add in their abrasive texture and you’ve got yourself a perfect combo of scent and scrub. Once chewed, the tiny nut & seed particles will help remove any residual food left in your mouth. Not to mention nuts give you an energy boost. It’s a win-win.
4. DRINK WATER WITH LEMON (OR LIME)
This one is easy especially if you’re meeting up with someone at an office, bar or restaurant. Order a glass of water with lemon to help kill those bad breathe causing bacteria. As a bonus, you’ll look pretty posh.
