The Effects of Happiness on Success

Who knew mood rings were back in style? Hint: they aren’t. But what these celestial rings told us during those years when braces were considered cool, is more relevant to your adult self today than ever before. Since the last 90’s when researchers first coined the term ‘positive psychology’, countless studies have been run proving happiness is not just a byproduct of success. Rather success comes from being happy. And it’s not just success at work. Happiness has been proven to add years to your life and can even make pain less painful. I know I feel like I’m taking crazy pills too. How Does Happiness Affect Us? Happiness influences the many aspects of our life that lead to success – how we view ourselves, how we build relationships, and how we stay motivated, persevere and solve problems. When we are happy and positive, our brains become more energetic, creative, motivated, resilient, engaged and productive. It’s like psychologists found the fountain of youth and it was inside us this whole time! Mind. Blown. So if happiness is the key …

Brew A Great Cup of Coffee Today

Sleep 7-9 hours, eat a healthy breakfast, go to the gym and meditate.  That’s all you have to do to start your day on the right foot. OR… You could shove 3 cups of coffee down your throat. Whether you went hard the night before, or you were binging on Netflix and are no recovering from “I don’t know what to watch next” syndrome, many of us swear by coffee to start our day. Oral Care Tip – brush your teeth after you drink that first cup, as long as you’re home.  If you’re leaving the house, don’t be gross. First off, you’re going to need a few tools: 1 – Grinder: DO NOT BUY PREGROUND COFFEE.  Say that 3x before moving on.  In just 15 minutes, ground coffee loses 60% of its aroma.  Imagine if it was ground, distributed, sat on a shelf and then taken home.  So go the whole bean route.  However, that requires a grinder.  Find something that works for you, but we recommend a burr grinder for the best results. …

Skip Breakfast but Still Kick Ass

You hit snooze one too many times, woke up to a flurry of urgent emails, had to deal with a dog or kid getting sick all over you, we’ve been there. Mornings are rough and in the midst of taking care of business you sometimes forget to take care of breakfast. Thankfully you can still have a kick ass start to your day sans breakfast. WHY THE BREAKFAST CRAZE ANYWAY? We’ve grown up being told breakfast is the most important part of the day, that your metabolism is jumpstarted with breakfast. Which is great, except we now have ten thousand things to do in the AM besides breakfast. Sure I’ve thought about getting a personal chef to whip up breakfast for me every morning, but last I checked my bank account was missing a few zeros to make that happen. As I like to tell my mom ‘times have changed’ and so has breakfast. In fact last year, the New York Times reviewed scientific research on the value of breakfast and found “misinterpreted research and …

Positive Vibes – February 2017

We get it – some days it’s too hard to get out of bed, let alone get in the shower and then face other humans.  Every month we’ll be sharing our favorite tunes to help you get the day started off on the right foot.   For February, the theme is rightfully love and passion.  At Tulip, we’re all about positive vibes.  Love is about as positive of a feeling you can get.  We’re not just talking about partners, but love of family, of yourself, and the waiter who accidently brought you someone else’s fries. Enjoy! For those of you that get the reference, MiC Lowry (think bad boys) brings back samples of a classic anthem in Oh Lord.   Martin Jensen shows that she doesn’t need anyone else and can party on her own in Solo Dance.  Love yourself first, y’all. We all remember summer love.  JP Cooper brings back youthful summer love in September Song.  Ever wonder what those people are up to today? Lighthouse is a reminder that love matures and grows. …
